About the Studio
After the pandemic, Mikayla left the field of nursing to pursue art full time. MBB Ceramics was launched in 2021 from Omaha, NE where she was a familiar face at the local farmers markets and art fairs. In 2023, Mikayla and her husband Drew moved to Arizona. After about a year of settling in, the new studio was set up and expanded to make room for Drew’s wood and metal-working equipment and new sewing equipment for upholstery and leatherwork.
Mikayla still produces pottery, but the studio now includes leather goods and collaborative works made with Drew such as artisanal furniture pieces made of wood, steel, and textiles. Mikayla and Drew share passions for art, design, and craftsmanship and very much enjoy sharing their work and process with the world. All of the pieces offered are designed and made in the studio, affectionally named for their beloved dog, Cleo.
